We’re Recruiting!!

43 & Change is looking for a fabulous fiddle player and a new banjo player! Is one of those you? For more information about the band, check out the About page. As a band we’ve been playing together for a couple years and are just starting to work on a regular schedule of performances. At the moment we are not a working band, and this is not a paying recruitment.

Fiddle

With a new vacancy in the band after Jeff Stave left, we decided to adjust the sound of the band a little and are looking for a fiddle player. We are looking for solid musicianship and the ability to learn using charts and by ear. Bluegrass experience is helpful but not required – we are willing to help train up the right person (though a basic level of playing proficiency with your instrument is required). Regardless of your experience level, we are looking for people who have a drive to improve their playing and a passion for ensemble music. Must be able to attend weekly rehearsals in Sandy, and participate in performances throughout the Portland Metro and surrounding areas.

Banjo

We are also looking for a new banjo player to free up Patrick McLaughlin, who has been graciously sitting in with us for much of the last year, to concentrate on his primary band. Basic proficiency in Scruggs-style playing, and bluegrass generally, required. Like the fiddle vacancy, we are willing to work with the right person to come up to speed but aren’t able to teach you how to play banjo. Regardless of your experience level, we are looking for people who have a drive to improve their playing and a passion for ensemble music. Must be able to attend weekly rehearsals in Sandy, and participate in performances throughout the Portland Metro and surrounding areas.

How to Apply

Interested musicians should contact Benny Westberry at the number listed in the image above or through the contact page on this site. We will want to meet you and have a short audition and then a trial run with the band.
